Formatting USBs

  1. Open Files.
  2. Right click drive, press "Format..."
  3. Set the "Volume Name"
  4. Check: "For use with all systems and devices (FAT)"

If you get a message like:

 

This partition cannot be modifed because it contains a partition table

  1. Run: gnome-disks
  2. Select the disk or drive you want to format.
  3. Be VERY careful you don't format your own hard drive.
  4. > Format Disk > Format...
    • "Overwrite existing data with zeroes (Slow)"
    • "Compatible with all systems and devices (MBR / DOS)"
  5. Volumes > > Next.
  6. Set the "Volume Name"
  7. Check: "For use with all systems and devices (FAT)"
  8. Click: Create
