2005-02 Feb - Canada and Christmas
Traditionally we start our newsletters with an excuse about why its been so long since our last newsletter (5 months) and it is usually that we've been really busy, and that is still the case. We've both been busier than normal in work and church responsibilities, as well as having people staying with us in january.
We did get some time off to relax just after our last newsletter and during October spent two weeks in Canada. Monique hadn't seen her parents since we got married, and had been been a little distracted on that trip anyway, so it was good for her to spend time with them again, and for Fraser to get to know them better. One of the highlights of the trip was to revisit our honeymoon in Niagara Falls, this time staying in one of the best rooms there!
One for the road - Ethan drinking outside the supermarket |
We had a quiet Christmas, then a couple of days later Fraser's brother Craig and his wife Cancy and son Ethan came to stay off and on for a month, with some other friends from NZ taking their place for a week in early January. It was fun to get to know Ethan, and get a crash-course in baby-proofing! By the time they left Ethan was starting to bring a book over to either of us to cuddle up, and read to him.
We also spent a weekend in Oxford which was lovely. We stayed in a hotel a couple of miles further up the Thames from the city center, and on the saturday spent a few hours walking in the countryside along the banks of the Thames with no cars or buildings around, and only a few people - mostly other walkers, and students practising rowing.
The next thing we're looking forward to is a week-long holiday in Tunisia over the easter weekend. Tunisia is on the north-east coast of Africa, just below Sicily and should be much warmer than the UK! It also has lots of historic sites, and we'll get to see some traditional muslim places, and maybe a trip to the Sahara!

Marokopa Waterfall
We took our nephews down to see the glow-worms at Waitomo Caves, we weren't able to take any photos of them, but we also went out along a windy road to one of NZ's prettiest waterfalls. Take a look for yourself.
Congratulations Owen and Moana
Fraser's brother Owen was sealed to his wife, Moana recently, which was great to be here for. We also got to meet Moana's family afterwards. (Not sure what this means? Read this.)

Free backup software
Fraser had spent a while looking for a good backup solution until he came across Mozy. You register an account with them, install their program on your computer, and tell it what you want to be backed up, and then it backs up those files to their servers quickly and securely. 2gb of free storage, and the easiest and best backup solution Fraser's ever seen.
